NEW DISPLAY OPTION: COLOR BY ANY COLUMN
When it comes to speed, PetroDE has a definite advantage. Need to quickly see where operators are drilling or where output is highest? Need to spot trends or make comparisons on the fly at the upcoming NAPE Summit? PetroDE just made it easier with the ability to display ANY LAYER with a color coded column of your choosing.
Style by any column for any layer…
What does this mean? Any column (e.g., Operator, Total Depth, Permit Date, Proppant, etc.) from any dataset including points, lines, and polygons can be used as a basis for color styling. The colors make it easy to see outliers, or the most common result, which in turn makes it easy to spot trends and make quick comparisons.
Check it out under Map Display:
In the Analysis card, select Map Display -> Symbols -> Color By. Select the desired column to color by from the drop-down menu and select from the style set options. Note that each time the column or style is changed, the Display button needs to be clicked.
COMPARE TOP OPERATORS
An advantage of this feature is that the colors carry over to the charts if the same column is chosen for the x axis in the chart. For example, in the chart below, Operator was selected as the column to Color By, and in Bar Charts -> IP, Operator is the default selection for the x-axis so the colors carry over to the chart.
Clicking on any bar in the bar chart will highlight that result on the map, thus allowing users to step through the top 10 operators and see where they are getting the highest IPs. – in seconds!
COMPARE AVG INITIAL PRODUCTION BY FIELD
Another example is to compare the average IP Boe6 by Field. Go to Map Display -> Symbols -> Color By and select Field for the column. Then go to Bar Charts -> Custom and select Field for the x-axis, IP Boe6 for the y-axis, and summarize by Average. The resulting chart shows which fields have the highest initial production and gives you a place to start when comparing development options.
We can highlight the location of the wells associated with any bar in the chart by clicking on it. The Johnson Ranch wells are highlighted below.
