Founder and CEO
Alan is a geoscientist with more than 29 years of experience in the petroleum industry. He has developed resource plays on three continents using key metrics & scoring methods for identifying core shale play acreage. He has applied the method to the Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Utica, and Barnett shale systems, greatly simplifying acreage evaluation. Prior to focusing on resource plays, Alan explored for conventional resources for Shell E&P from California to the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico.
Alan started his career with Shell Oil Company, and served both in interpretation and IT roles. As Workstation & Training Coordinator for Shell Offshore, Inc., he managed the group responsible for meeting the hardware, software, data, and workstation training needs of 350 people and administered a $3.5M hardware budget. Alan was also responsible for coordination of software development between the interpeters for Shell Offshore Inc. and developers at the Bellaire Research Center. Alan received a B.S. in Geophysical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines.
VP of Engineering
Keith is responsible for managing PetroDE's development teams, guiding product direction, and ensuring system quality and stability. Keith writes code for many parts of the application including backend analytics systems, testing automation, and system management. He holds a BS in electrical and computer engineering and an MS in electrical engineering, both from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Keith enjoys skiing, hiking, and travelling.
VP of Business Development
Jim is in charge of PetroDE’s customer-facing efforts, overseeing the company’s sales, partnerships, and customer relationships. His 25+ years of experience in sales and business development have supported many customers, from retail businesses and startup operations to enterprise Fortune 500 accounts.
Jim excels in developing markets for new technologies, and developing sales strategy from the ground floor. Prior to joining PetroDE, Jim co-founded Interpretive Imaging, LLC, and created a new global industry standard for well log and cross section technology. Interpretive Imaging merged with A2D, then sold for $22MM to TGS in 2002. After the sale, Jim became the VP of IHS Energy, and later went on to assist many companies through his business development consultancy, JES Inc. Jim holds a BS in Business from Iowa State University.
VP, Operations & Legal Affairs
Michael is an attorney and business operations professional with experience spanning multiple industries. He specializes in the organizational development and operational growth of early to mid stage enterprises, and brings nearly 20 years of experience with contract analysis, negotiation and management. Michael entered as Chief Operating Officer with a new management team to salvage MedLogic Global Corporation in 2001.
Senior Software Engineer
Dylan enjoys concurrent systems design and is an algorithm and security specialist. He has been awarded a patent for his development of key components of PetroDE's search technology. As a student at the University of Colorado, Dylan worked with the Colorado Space Grant Consortium, developing software and hardware for the RockOn workshop program, in which student teams develop and launch payloads for satellites. He holds a BS in electrical and computer engineering and an MS in electrical engineering, both from the University of Colorado, Boulder. He skis and flies recreational drones for fun.
Data Operations Engineer
Tyler specializes in data management and system operations. He graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.S. in Civil Engineering, specializing in hydraulic engineering and resources. Outside of work, he can be found snowboarding, hiking and captaining the paintball team.
Ezekiel makes sure the servers stay up and works to improve the deployment pipeline. He graduated with a B.S. of Computer Science from Colorado School of Mines. He can often be heard ranting about some technology or another impacting his uptime statistics or sanity. He reads literature and code avidly, and greatly enjoys theater.
Quality Assurance Engineer
With 10 years of experience in QA, testing web apps on an enterprise scale, Judd joined PetroDE to assure site reliability and data security. When not on the job, he enjoys skiing, hiking and reading.
Manager, Client Support
Holly has more than 15 years of experience in software and hardware support in both the oil industry and the public sector. She also has experience as a development geologist working on both onshore and offshore plays in the US. Holly holds a BS in Geological Engineering and an MS in Geology, both from the Colorado School of Mines.
Trevor designs and expands PetroDE's website. In his free time he enjoys kayaking, skiing, and photography.
GIS Specialist/Technical Writer
Linda has more than 15 years of experience developing technical procedures and training materials for activities in engineering, the geosciences, computer hardware and software, and logistics. She also has more than 6 years of experience as a GIS Specialist in the oil and gas industry. Linda holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Mexico.
Jamie has been a Geological Technician with PetroDE since 2011. She has 18 years of experience as a Geological Technician in the petroleum industry. Jamie holds a BS in Geology from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Jesse is a front-end web developer for PetroDE. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Colorado School of Mines and specializes in networking, user interface design, and data visualization. Outside of work he hacks pianos and electronics, hikes, and cooks. He also serves as an adjunct Computer Science instructor at Colorado School of Mines.
Junior Software Engineer
Allison writes automated regression tests at PetroDE to ensure the application's continued functionality. As a recent graduate from RefactorU's Web Development Bootcamp in Boulder, Allison's learning continues to advance on an exponential trajectory curve both on the job and after as she works on designing and developing websites for friends. Outside of work, you can catch her playing Ultimate Frisbee, rock climbing, running, hiking, biking, and enjoying life in Colorado!
