Custom heat maps have been upgraded to include five preset color bars, custom color bars, the ability to toggle between log and linear with set percentile or value bounds, and the ability to lock the legend.
For example, to compare top formations through time, select string for the data type and Formations for the column. Choose your color scale by clicking on the color bar drop-down menu and selecting one of the five presets. To further customize the color bar, click on Custom. Add colors by selecting the + symbol and remove colors by clicking and sliding them off the panel. Click on any color block to change it.
Next, click the Display button. The top eleven formations for the selected Time Period are displayed. For example, the figure on the left shows the top eleven Formations in South Texas for the Past Year. Click on Lock Legend to freeze the top eleven Formations for the currently selected Time Period. Next, change the Time Period to 2013 and the figure on the right appears for the same eleven “locked” formations.

Heat maps and their color scales may now be created with either percentiles or values, and linear scales as well as log scales. There is also the option to set bounds for the scale, either by defining percentiles or by setting values.
