Thermal Maturity, Shale Member Subcrops, and Structural Contours, Plus a Production Heat Map
This example demonstrates the integration of several GeoEdges data layers in the Bakken horizontal play. The layers shown are Bakken Structure (black lines), Bakken thermal maturity boundary (red line) and the shale member subcrops (various shades of green). The middle member clean sandstone isopach is also shown with the thicknesses shown in the legend. Underneath all these geologic layers is a Peak 90 Day Boevd21 production heat map from the IHSM Production layer. We see that production does not correspond to where the Bakken middle member clean sandstone is distributed. The best results are in the deepest portion of the basin where thermal maturity of the shale members is the greatest.
The chart shows the probability of getting a certain value of Peak 90 Production. Clicking on any bar tells you where that group of data is located on the map.
Using GeoEdges Resistivity and Vitrinite Reflectance to Show Potential in the Niobrara
The next example shows 12-month cumulative production (BOEV21) bubbles for horizontal Niobrara wells in the Powder River Basin layered on top of a heat map of Average Resistivity in the Niobrara (generated from GeoEdges resistivity data points). The purple contours are Vitrinite Reflectance in the Niobrara (also sourced by GeoEdges). What may be interpreted here is that the best Niobrara potential resides where thermal maturity ranges between 0.6 and 0.8 Ro and where Resistivity is greater than 20 ohms.
Shorelines and Overpressured Zone together with 24-month Liquid Production
The following map and chart are for the Frontier/Turner Formation. The bubbles are 24-month liquid (oil & condensate) production for Turner Horizontals. The GeoEdges data on the map are as follows: Red outline is the Turner Formation overpressured zone, the yellow and gold lines are the Turner and Frontier shorelines. An interpretation can be made that production is affected by certain depositional controls of these shorelines and that most of the better wells are within the overpressured zone. Additionally, a scatter plot shows a linear relationship between 3-month and 24-month liquid cumulative production rates.
